Master Classes in traditional Ukrainian Church Chant will be held in Kyiv, Lviv and other cities in Ukraine.
First master classes are sponsored by the Museum of Ivan Honchar and will take place in Kyiv (Lavrska Street, 19) from 2pm-4pm.
Discussions include:
- Octoechos – function and spiritual significance of the Byzantine “HLAS” (Tone) system.
- Sticherion (or Stichera) of the Great Feasts of the year for Vespers.
Master Classes will be conducted by Andriy Shkarabiuk
In Lviv, Master Classes will be held nn October 24-25 at the Nativity of Theotokos church (Chervona Kalyna Prospect, 70) from 3:30pm – 4:45pm. Maksym Tymo will talk about 10 rules of church cantor and Fr. Ruslan Hrekh will talk about Dogmats of 8 tones at Great Vespers.
There are plans to conduct master classes in Dnipropetrovsk, Ternopil, Zaporizhzhya, Drohobych, Lutsk and other cities. If you wish to hold a master class on your city, please contact [email protected]
The Master Classes on church singing are for cantors, lay people, choir directors and persons of interest of any age. Master classes are free of charge.
